A funky beachside town located at the very tip of Cape Cod, Provincetown is filled with great shopping, restaurants and New England-y attractions like lighthouses, nature walks and sailing regattas. My uncle owns an inn on the west end of the town, one that I haven’t been to in years. Fortunately, I’ll be setting up camp there next month for a long (overdue) weekend with Eric, my best bud Monica and her newly minted fiancé and I couldn’t be more excited. In addition to spending time on the beach in the company of some of my favorite people, I’m looking forward to renting bikes, exploring Commercial Street and heading to The Lobster Pot for a lobstah roll.

Has anyone else been up to Provincetown? Any can’t miss restaurants or attractions? Here are a few I thought looked fun:

Spending a few hours wandering (and boat watching) along Macmillan Pier
Stand up paddle boarding or kayaking
Hiking the Beech Forest Trail with the pup
Relaxing at Race Point Beach
Enjoying a meal (or cocktail, or two) at Ten Tables, The Mews and Bayside Betsy’s

Destination: London

As I mentioned earlier (here and here) I was in London last week but was unable to see/visit many places… I didn’t even bring my proper DSLR with me.

The city was gorgeous and we lucked out with beautiful weather. I spent the one evening I was there walking on the south bank and it was perfect. Just walking around made me want to go back and I have already started planning for a trip later on this summer.

If I went back to London here’s a top ten list of what I would try to do in a long weekend:

I’d love to take an evening cruise of the Thames, if it was anywhere near as nice weather it would be perfect to see the city.
On Sunday I’d love to get a cup of coffee then stroll around Spitalfields market.
This would take up a lot of time, but the Tate museum is a definite.
Luckily when I was walking around I happened to walk around Westminster Abbey, but I’d love to go back with my camera.
Again if the weather suited, I would enjoy spending a little time in Hampstead Heath park.
Even though it’s touristy I’d still love to go to the London Eye.
If I wasn’t museum-ed out after the Tate I’d head over to the British Museum.
Any new city I’ve been to, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the hop-on, hop-off tours and London would be fantastic as it’s the original.
I’ve gotten really into watching Mr. Selfridge, so I’d have to go checkout the massive shop.
While walking around I went past the Sherlock Holmes Pub and all I wanted to do was have a large drink, but that’ll have to wait until I go back.

Thank you to Pinterest and Spotted Moth for transporting my mind firmly to the beach for a few hours this week. With our destination wedding trip to Antigua just around the corner, I’m delirious at the thought of putting on a bright dress and big shades and wriggling my toes in the sand. How early is too early to start packing if I’m already on the plane mentally?

Particularly loving this boyfriend blouse, patterned dress and panther clutch–resort accessories at their finest.

It’s been a while since we’ve had an I love, I need destinations post. Considering that I now live in Dublin, we figured now would be a perfect time to feature Ireland. Above are photos I have taken since I’ve been here, all from my iPhone actually! I somehow forgot my camera charger at home so until I get it sent over (thanks, Mom!) the iPhone will have to suffice.

While I’m still fairly new to the city and have loads left to discover, here’s a list of a few places I have really enjoyed since being here:

The Guinness Storehouse. In the past two years I have actually been here three times (I know, slightly ridiculous) but it really is a great time. With admission you get a free pint of Guinness, where you can choose to either learn to pour your own pint, or enjoy a lovely pint at the Gravity Bar, which offers panoramic views of the city.
Art galleries and museums. Dublin has such great art galleries and museums, and a ton of them are free. I still haven’t been to many, but I have so many on my list to go to. My boyfriend and I actually live right around the corner from the Hugh Lane Gallery, and it’s gorgeous. The National Museums are all supposed to be great and hopefully soon I go see the “dead zoo” or the Natural History Museum.
Quiet pints. Since living in Dublin, I’ve been lucky to try out a ton of different pubs and bars. We’re still in search of the perfect pub right near our apartment, but we’ve been to some great ones in the city centre. Quiet pints in Dublin are an absolute must, as you never know who you’ll talk to. So far I’ve really enjoyed Mulloys, Sweeneys, Kehoe’s.
Kilmainhaim Jail. To really appreciate and learn some real Irish history, here’s a definite place to see. I went for my first time two weeks ago and it was incredibly interesting. Having taken an Irish history course, I knew a lot of the background, but for someone who knew not a thing, it really helps to understand Irish people.
Traditional Irish food. For someone who really loves potatoes, Ireland has been treating me very well in the food department. I haven’t really been out to eat too much in Dublin, since living here I have been trying hard to cut down on the spending and eating out here is quite expensive. However, I would really recommend the Winding Stair.
Phoenix Park. With over 1,750 acres, this park on the north side of Dublin is the largest walled park in all of Europe. It really is massive, but is a gorgeous drive through, especially in the spring. Also, the Dublin Zoo is located in the park. We went this March and it was a really good time! As long as the weather’s good it is worth it.
Irish coffee. Okay so since being in Ireland I have had a lot of different types of Irish coffee (as evidence here and here.) But really, I’m going to add in also hot whiskey, hot port and all other alcoholic hot drinks. I mean if you’re here you’re likely on vacation so might as well get a little bit of a drink coat on when it will inevitably rain.
Grafton Street. This is one of the main shopping streets in Dublin. While most of it I really can’t afford, it’s still a great place to go window shop. There’s really great stores all along here and nice pubs off of the side streets (like Kehoe’s as I mentioned before.) You will definitely end up spending some time on this street if you ever go to Dublin.
Trinity College. Having gone to the College of Charleston, I really lacked that university feel. It’s a great college, but definitely the “city is your campus” kind of vibe. While Trinity is right in the center of Dublin, it feels like a grand university, and I guess that’s because it is. Here’s where the Book of Kells is located, which lots of people come to Dublin to see.
St. Stephen’s Green. Right up the street from Trinity College and Grafton Street is St. Stephen’s Green. This park is great to walk through and is gorgeous in the spring time. There’s lots to do all around here and there’s meant to be great restaurants all near it.

I love, I need destinations: St. Thomas

Here are a few shots from our quick getaway to St. Thomas last month. We only had a weekend and didn’t get to do nearly enough (though the drinking, eating, and beach exploring/hiking we did was fantastic) so I’ve decided to share the things we would’ve loved to do on our visit and came highly recommended from friends and hotel* staff.

Taking a tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery–ferries run between the Virgin Islands daily, making it a breeze to get from one island to another. Would’ve loved to get to St. Croix for an afternoon of rum tasting.
Brunching at Gladys’ Cafe at the Royal Dane Mall–I can’t get enough of brunch and was told by more than a few employee bartenders that Gladys’ is where its at. I’m still a little sad we didn’t make it over.
Sailing on the Marriott’s Cat. The resort owns a catamaran and runs some kind of snorkeling, dining or party cruise daily. When I hit it rich, I’m heading back for the full day tour.
Kayaking and/or hiking on a VI Ecotour. A friend of mine recommended the kayak/hike/snorkel tour and said the views were spectacular. I’m always a sucker for a good kayak adventure–we rented them in Jamaica and Lucy and I may or may not have tipped one over together in Nova Scotia.

*The Marriott we stayed at was beautiful, and I’m not just saying it because Eric works there. Good food, great staff and lots of pool and beach access. I would definitely go back again.

I love, I need destinations: Barcelona

When I was in the seventh grade I started learning Spanish. I took the same language every single year, until my second-year of college. Can I speak Spanish now? Absolutely not. I can semi-understand a few words when reading Spanish but all I can really say in the language is a few select words.

What I did learn and retain from those Spanish classes were how incredible the Spanish culture is, specifically Barcelona. Jess (who by the way never even took Spanish) went to Spain with our high school and I was/am very jealous of her.

For this month’s destination, I am dreaming of Barcelona. A place I have wanted to go since I was eleven and haven’t yet made it. Here’s what I would love to do in Barcelona.

Tenorio Brasería: a restaurant with a Catalan spin, I would love to eat some artichoke ravioli with Spanish ham and carbonara sauce
Parc Güell: as shown above, which naturally is a Gaudí wonderland.
El Raval: the street with vintage boutiques, intersting restaurants and endless people watching
Fundació Joan Miró: which is a beautiful light-filled gallery with sweeping rooftop views
Gimlet: to go drink crazy mojitos, like cumquat, ginger and passionfruit
Sagrada Família: one gorgeous church I would love to see, another Gaudí masterpiece
Boqueria: an incredibly cool market, to walk around and eat some Mediterranean cuisine
Santa Maria del Mar: another beautiful church, which has been said to be the city’s most peaceful structure
