Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Ahhh, how everyone loves this time of the year. Plus, still loving our girl Zooey and her soft voice.

With my new (red!) mixer as an early Christmas present, I have been set-up in the kitchen for the past few days… and it’s been too fun.

Here’s some projects I’ve finished/in the middle of/haven’t even started. I would have my very own pictures but my camera has completely died. If you’d like to follow my Pinterest, I have a board devoted to Christmas things also.

Peppermint marshmallows. These came out deelish but super sticky. Will be heading to NYC Thursday for a two-hour night cruise and planning on sneaking these in along with a cheeky flask of spiked hot chocolate. These will be the perfect addition.

Awesome paper gift toppers/banners. Haven’t started this yet and normally my snowflakes look like some tribal/Native American mix sooo this one will be interesting.

Chocolate peppermint cake roll. This is mainly because I want to test out all the features on my mixer, but still this will be delicious.

Empty aluminum foil boxes wrapped and turned into treat holders. Genius idea! These actually aren’t that hard to do and come out super cute. I don’t have those cute gold buttons so I’ve just got to make up some idea on how to close them easier…

Peanut butter fudge. To Jess, love me. I’m awful at surprises and this year is no different. Seester, excuse my language, but this shit is delicious.

Tuesday is Cupcake Day

Hi friends. Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. on the blog for the past week. My life has been consumed with driving (I drove over 48 hours in the past week… yes two total days) and college as this is my last week of class for the year (ah!). So I am back and bringing you mmmm…. cupcakes.

So I was in D.C. yesterday and was bummed out I didn’t get a chance to stop here. I know either TLC or some food network does a show on this shop, but they’re supposed to be super tasty.

I’ve heard different things from friends who live in D.C. but after looking up their December calendar of cupcakes I am drooling. Plus, they’re adorable and who doesn’t love to eat cute things?

Here are some of my faves that I can’t wait to try. Luckily I’ll be back up in D.C. in a few weeks, to stay with my good friend Kendra and have a little detour on my long drive back to CT. Check out their massive menu, but be warned… it’ll make you hungry.

Ummm yeah. That’s real life.

A Cozy Kitchen

It’s not surprising that I’m embracing another Monday with a post about food. One day my dream kitchen will be full of awesome tools and incredible baking materials (also better baking/cooking skills) so I do enjoy a lovely food blog.

Today I’d love to share with you A Cozy Kitchen, in case you hadn’t heard of it already. I’ve only tried one recipe (see pumpkin chocolate pancakes, they look nothing like the picture below, also referred to in last week’s fall post) and loved it.

There’s great recipes here though like: peach limeade, gingerbread muffins, bourbon butterscotch pudding and s0ft pretzel tots. Mmm, yes it’s only 8 in the morning and I’m desperate for desserts. Besides having interesting recipes, there’s also awesome guides and great ideas like this how-to on organizing a spice drawer.

Pie Night

I LOVE this idea. Having a pie night with all your friends one weekday afternoon would brighten up a seemingly dreary work week. Each person brings one pie, votes while everyone is hanging out, and then the winner is announced and given a prize.

How cute is this? I read about a pie night over here, and instantly decided I wanted to have one. Lots of pie + lots of friends = lots of fun. Then I started thinking about that movie Waitress, and realized how cool it would be to have your own pie restaurant.

Now I’m getting ahead of myself here. I’ll just get started on planning my very own pie night.

Pumpkin Doughnut Days

You know those days when not much seems to be going right and you’re in a bit of a funk?

Well I’m having one of those days and it’s only 10a.m.

Thankfully, I was looking over at Annie’s Eats today and the thought of these beautiful pumpkin doughnuts cheered me up.

While I wish I could make them (me and huge piping vats of oil just don’t get along) I will share this on to you, who hopefully is less accident-prone (and a better baker) than I am.

I am a pro-cookie-maker though, and luckily right under these pumpkin donuts appears this deelish sounding recipe of pumpkin snickerdoodles. Snickerdoodles are possibly one of my favorite cookies, so adding pumpkin to that I think I’d pass out with joy.
