Here are a few shots from our quick getaway to St. Thomas last month. We only had a weekend and didn’t get to do nearly enough (though the drinking, eating, and beach exploring/hiking we did was fantastic) so I’ve decided to share the things we would’ve loved to do on our visit and came highly recommended from friends and hotel* staff.
- Taking a tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery–ferries run between the Virgin Islands daily, making it a breeze to get from one island to another. Would’ve loved to get to St. Croix for an afternoon of rum tasting.
- Brunching at Gladys’ Cafe at the Royal Dane Mall–I can’t get enough of brunch and was told by more than a few employee bartenders that Gladys’ is where its at. I’m still a little sad we didn’t make it over.
- Sailing on the Marriott’s Cat. The resort owns a catamaran and runs some kind of snorkeling, dining or party cruise daily. When I hit it rich, I’m heading back for the full day tour.
- Kayaking and/or hiking on a VI Ecotour. A friend of mine recommended the kayak/hike/snorkel tour and said the views were spectacular. I’m always a sucker for a good kayak adventure–we rented them in Jamaica and Lucy and I may or may not have tipped one over together in Nova Scotia.
Have you ever been to St. Thomas? Any-must do that’s missing from my list?
*The Marriott we stayed at was beautiful, and I’m not just saying it because Eric works there. Good food, great staff and lots of pool and beach access. I would definitely go back again.
