Well here we are. The near year is almost upon us and I have to say it’s been a wonderful 2011, for both this little blog and its authors.

This year:

We had our very first post!
Celebrated St. Patty’s day in Ireland
Made it to our 200th post
Took a quick trip to Cape Cod
Started a Twitter account
Had our very first guest post followed by our second, third and fourth {you guys did an amazing job, thanks for sharing with us! P.S. we’re actively recruiting 2012 guest bloggers so holler if you’re interested}
Visited Lucy in South Carolina
Got freshly pressed {still SO thrilled about this!}
And spent Christmas in Las Vegas

In between all this fun we found time to move to Brooklyn, change jobs, run another 1/2 marathon, come home from Ireland, start school again and turn 21!

I’m so happy Lucy came up with the idea for this blog and am thankful for the people who read it–sometimes more often than others, ha. I’m also grateful for the incredible bloggers out there {A Cup of Jo, Rockstar Diaries and Oh Joy to name a few} that inspire us and make the web such a fun little place to spend some time.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday {and is wearing something stellar tomorrow night!}. Here’s to 2012,

2011 is coming to a close… already.

Can you believe the year’s already over? It’s too weird.

It was a great year though. Not just because Beyoncé had a baby, or because I finally got around to organizing my iTunes. But, Jess and I started I Love, I need.

As my final post of 2011, I wanted to round up the top 10 posts of the year. Two posts are even from our guest posters Monica and Siobhan, which is too fabulous. We’ve enjoyed every second of posting, and hope you’ve enjoyed reading! Thanks so much for all of your wonderfulness all year long.

Chances are if you live in a city–any city, really, but New York in particular–you are obsessed with people’s apartments. We can have entire friendships with people here without ever (ever!) seeing the inside of their homes. The ones I happen to peek inside/creep around on my way to and from work in Soho? Well, they’re the stuff of dreams. A perfect combination of modern sophistication (cool light fixtures, accent walls and big framed pictures) and classic NYC beauty (brick buildings, high ceilings, fireplaces).

I’ve documented my obsession on this blog here and here but I happen to believe that a good apartment tour never gets old. Especially when the apartments are as unique and brilliantly decorated as these.

Thanks to design sponge for providing these sneak peeks and the wonderful articles that accompany them. What I wouldn’t do for the $$/time/design aesthetic to make my own space as fun.

As most of my friends will attest, I’m not a huge New Year’s person. I’m just as cool sitting on the couch with a bowl of homemade confetti as I am hanging out at a bar and rallying well past midnight {or trying really hard to}. Wearing a great dress while doing either activity, however, I am 100% behind.

There’s just something about buying and slipping into something you normally wouldn’t wear for a night–especially one as hyped-up as New Year’s Eve–that can’t be beat. So this year be it a bright color or pattern or fringe or sparkle, I say just go for it. There are sales aplenty out there and who knows, maybe you’ll find out you really CAN rock the flapper/disco queen look. We certainly won’t judge you for trying.

NYE Shoes

Omg… shoes.

We all have this problem, let’s face it. Look in your closet and count your shoes, go on do it. I did it and realized I have over 40 pairs of shoes. NO JOKE. This includes flip-flops, heels, sneakers, slippers, etc. but holy crap when have I accumulated that much?!

Well of course I “need” a new pair for NYE. These are some contenders. Definitely something sparkly because I mean really, when else can you wear sparkly shoes and not feel slightly silly?

Viva Las Vegas

Today Lucy and I are off to the fabulous Las Vegas to spend the holidays with our dad, grandparents and boyfriends! A little unconventional I know, but since Lucy turned 21 and our dad turned 50 this year we figured we’d spice things up a little bit.

Lucy and I have never been before but are looking forward to staying at the Monte Carlo, seeing a show and spending Christmas at a Packers bar (because we’re cool like that).
